Turn a Google Alert, Reddit search, or YouTube channel into RSS

Three high-value sources are easier to convert than they look. Here is how to turn alerts, subreddits, searches, and channels into one clean feed list.

Three of the most useful sources on the web — Google Alerts, Reddit, and YouTube — all have a path to RSS. The trick is knowing which URL to use and how to keep the result clean.

Google Alerts

Google Alerts is still one of the best ways to monitor a name, phrase, or topic across the web. Instead of email, choose RSS feed as the delivery method when you create the alert.

  1. Go to Google Alerts.
  2. Enter the phrase you want to track.
  3. Set frequency and sources.
  4. Set Deliver to: RSS feed.
  5. Paste the generated URL into your reader or RSSFlux.

The feed updates as Google finds new mentions. It is not complete — Google's index is its own — but it is excellent for brand monitoring and niche phrases.

Reddit

Reddit exposes RSS for almost everything:

  • Subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/worldnews.rss
  • Search: https://www.reddit.com/search.rss?q=your+topic&sort=new
  • User: https://www.reddit.com/user/username.rss

No account is required for public pages.

Two practical notes:

  • Use the .rss suffix, not the normal page URL.
  • Keep searches narrow. A broad subreddit feed fills up quickly; a keyword search or a smaller subreddit stays useful.

If a subreddit has no usable feed or you want to monitor a normal web page instead, create a feed from the page URL in RSSFlux and let the scraper handle it.

YouTube

Every channel has an RSS feed, but the URL uses a channel ID rather than the handle. RSSFlux's YouTube preset accepts a channel URL and resolves the ID for you.

Beyond the raw feed, RSSFlux can filter what arrives:

  • All uploads — videos, Shorts, and streams
  • Videos only — exclude Shorts
  • Shorts only
  • Streams only

That matters because a channel that posts several Shorts a day can bury the long-form videos you actually want.

You can also follow a feed without subscribing in the YouTube app, which keeps your watch page free of algorithmic recommendations.

Putting all three in one place

The real value appears when these sources live together. A practical setup for monitoring a topic:

  1. One Google Alert feed for the phrase.
  2. One Reddit search feed for the same phrase.
  3. Two or three YouTube channel feeds for creators you trust.
  4. An RSSFlux Fluxion that combines them into a single curated feed.

Then route the combined feed to where you work: Slack, Discord, Telegram, email, or a webhook. The result is a topic-specific intelligence stream with no algorithm in the middle.

Keep the signal high

  • Deduplicate: the same story will appear in multiple feeds. RSSFlux stores items with their links, so duplicates collapse.
  • Filter early: if a source produces noise, remove it rather than skimming around it.
  • Prefer listing pages: a search or category page usually beats a giant homepage.
  • Check the date field: some sources publish relative dates. A feed with real timestamps is easier to trust.

Where RSSFlux fits

RSSFlux has presets for YouTube, Reddit, Reddit Search, Google News, and custom pages, plus a visual selector tool for anything unusual. The free plan includes three feeds — enough for one alert, one subreddit, and one channel.

Frequently asked questions

Does Google Alerts still support RSS?
Yes. When you create an alert, set 'Deliver to' to RSS feed instead of email. The feed URL updates as the alert finds new mentions.
Can I get an RSS feed for a specific subreddit?
Yes. Reddit exposes .rss on subreddits, searches, and user pages. For example, reddit.com/r/worldnews.rss works without an account.
Why use RSSFlux for YouTube instead of the channel's feed URL?
RSSFlux's YouTube preset handles channel URLs and adds filters for videos, Shorts, and streams, so you can keep a clean list instead of mixing formats.
