Slack App

RSSFlux integrates with Slack through slash commands, allowing you to manage feeds and save links directly from your Slack workspace.

Setup

1. Create a Slack App at https://api.slack.com/apps

2. Under OAuth & Permissions, add these Bot Token Scopes:

- commands — enables slash commands

- chat:write — allows posting messages

- channels:read — read channel list

- channels:join — join channels

3. Under Slash Commands, register these commands — all point to the same URL:

| Command | Request URL | Description |

|---------|-------------|-------------|

| /linkdrop | https://rssflux.io/api/incoming/slack | Save a URL to a Link Drop list |

| /addfeed | https://rssflux.io/api/incoming/slack | Create a new RSS feed |

| /feednames | https://rssflux.io/api/incoming/slack | List all your feeds |

| /feedlist | https://rssflux.io/api/incoming/slack | Show latest items from all feeds |

| /feedlatest | https://rssflux.io/api/incoming/slack | Show latest from a specific feed |

| /flux-help | https://rssflux.io/api/incoming/slack | Show all available commands |

4. Install the app to your workspace

5. In RSSFlux, go to Bots & Alerts → Add Bot → Slack → Connect to Slack

6. The OAuth flow authorizes RSSFlux to send messages and receive commands

Troubleshooting

| Issue | Fix |

|-------|-----|

| "No Slack connection found" | Go to Bots & Alerts → Add Bot → Slack → Connect to Slack |

| "List not found" | Check the list code with /feednames. Only existing lists work |

| Command not recognized | Register it in the Slack API dashboard under Slash Commands |

| "Already in your feed" | The URL is already saved — no duplicate created |
