Telegram Integration

RSSFlux integrates with Telegram through a bot that accepts commands and URLs, allowing you to manage feeds and save links directly from Telegram. The integration supports both private chats and channels.

Two-Layer Setup

The integration has two parts:

  • Admin Setup (one time) — Create the bot, set the webhook, and configure the token
  • User Linking (per user, once) — Link your RSSFlux account to Telegram so the bot knows who you are

---

Admin Setup

This is a one-time configuration. Once set, every user can link their account.

1. Open Telegram and search for @BotFather

2. Send /newbot and follow the prompts to create a bot

3. Copy the API token (looks like 123456:ABC-DEF1234...)

4. Set the webhook (replace ):

`

curl -s "https://api.telegram.org/bot/setWebhook?url=https://rssflux.io/api/incoming/telegram"

`

5. In RSSFlux, go to Admin → Settings → Telegram

6. Paste the bot token into the telegram_bot_token field

That's it. The bot is now ready to accept commands from all linked users.

---

Connecting Your Account (Each User)

Every user needs to link their Telegram account once:

1. Go to Settings in the RSSFlux dashboard

2. Scroll to Connect Telegram

3. Click Generate Code — a 6-digit code appears

4. Open Telegram and send that code to your RSSFlux bot

5. The bot will reply: _"✓ Telegram linked to your RSSFlux account!"_

The code expires after 5 minutes. If it expires, generate a new one.

Unlinking

You can unlink your account from the same Settings page by clicking Unlink. This disconnects the bot from your RSSFlux account without affecting other users.

---

Channel Integration

The bot can also receive commands from a Telegram channel, not just private chats. This is useful for team channels.

Setup

1. Open your Telegram channel

2. Go to Channel Info → Administrators → Add Admin

3. Search for and select your RSSFlux bot

4. Enable "View Messages" (required) and "Post Messages" (so it can reply)

5. Save

Now any member can run commands directly in the channel.

You can also use the feed: or rss: prefix:

`

feed:https://example.com/rss

→ ✓ Feed created: Example News

`

`/linkdrop `

Saves a URL to your Link Drop list (default list: LD).

`

/linkdrop https://example.com/article

→ ✓ Link saved to list LD

`

All commands work in both private chat and channel.

---

URL-Only Mode

The simplest way to save links: just send any URL to the bot without a command. It's automatically saved to your Link Drop list.

`

https://example.com/article

→ ✓ Link saved to list LD

`

This works for any public URL — articles, videos, social media posts, etc.

Troubleshooting

| Issue | Cause | Fix |

|-------|-------|-----|

| Bot doesn't reply | telegram_bot_token not set in Admin settings | Go to Admin → Settings → Telegram and set the bot token |

| "Your Telegram isn't linked" | Account not connected | Go to Settings, generate a code, send it to the bot |

| Code expired | 5-minute expiry | Generate a new code from Settings |

| "No feeds yet" | No RSS feeds created | Create feeds from the dashboard first |

| Bot works in private but not in channel | Bot is not a channel admin | Add the bot as an administrator with "View Messages" permission |

| Commands not working after coding | Webhook was reset | Run the admin setup curl command again |

| Lost your bot token? | @BotFather only shows it once | Send /token to @BotFather, select your bot to get a new one (old token stops working) |

| Multiple messages received | Long responses are split automatically | This is normal — the bot splits long outputs into multiple messages |

| Forbidden: bot can't send to channel | Missing "Post Messages" permission | Add the bot as admin with "Post Messages" enabled |
